Having done your bit to reduce your single use plastic consumption by changing over from cling film to beeswax wraps, you now want to make sure that they are long lasting and that you get the most out of them.
Some of you might have found that after a few months use you want to give them a freshen up or may have found that they feel a bit crumbly and that the wax feels a bit 'loose'. This is completely normal for wraps made with 100% natural beeswax. It is super easy to give them a new lease of life and to make them as good as new all over again. Simply follow the simple steps in my two minute video to find out how.
I would recommend doing this once every couple of months - not overly frequently as you will find that each time you loose a small amount of the wax in the process.
You will need:
A baking tray - use one that is large enough to house your largest wrap when out flat.
2 x sheets of baking parchment or greaseproof paper - approximately the size of the baking tray.
Any of your beeswax wraps that need a freshen up.
Oven pre-heated to around 160 degrees celsius.
Preheat your oven to 160 degrees celsius.
Line your baking tray with greaseproof/baking parchment
Place your beeswax wrap in the tray on top of the greaseproof (for best results do one wrap at a time). Cover with the remaining sheet of greaseproof paper.
Place in the oven for approximately 60 seconds.
Remove and uncover the wrap. Then peel it away from the greaseproof paper and let is air dry/cool.
You beeswax wrap should be as good as new, looking and feeling refreshed.
